"The Magic of Dragons"

Symmes Junior High School, Gatineau (Aylmer), Quebec   February 26, 2014

On February 24, 25 and 26, 2014 I returned to Symmes Junior High School for a mural project.

I've worked at Symmes several times, collaborating with art teacher Sylvia Bretzloff and it’s always a wonderful experience.

The theme this year was "The Magic of Dragons". I created a background of exotic flowers and plants in which parts of the dragon figure could be seen. The more I drew and became familiarized with the theme, full dragons started appearing.

The students completed the project creating a series of dragons on the spaces reserved for them. These paintings turned out to be very diverse in their interpretation of the theme and each of them stands out for its uniqueness and distinctive style.

I’m very proud of their accomplishment although not surprised considering the fact that Sylvia prepares them thoroughly before I arrived.

It’s always a great pleasure to return to Symmes Junior High.

Bravo to all the participants.

"The Four Pillars of UnBullying"

Dr. S. E. McDowell School, Shawville, Quebec               February 14, 2014

On February 12, 13 and 14, 2014, I worked on a mural project at Dr. S. E McDowell School in Shawville, Quebec.

The theme was "The Four Pillars of UnBullying" and was divided into four sections of drawings such as:

We Ask For Help
We Don't Bully
We Include
We Tell An Adult

The content of these drawings reflected the sub-themes and were filled with images of children and adults in a variety of situations.
They are essentially drawings of people and they possess a beauty that only students of grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 are capable of expressing.

The song "Happy" was suggested by one of the teachers and works perfectly with the choreography done by the students.

I think it is a beautiful video with a very important message.

I’m very proud of all the participants!!

The theme of the project was "Au Tour du Monde".

Pupils throughout the school have created a series of images that reflected the cities, animals and peoples of different cultures on the planet.

I chose the song Suavemente by Elvis Crespo for the video. This is a perfect example of world music and in my opinion the students danced to the rhythm and energy of this beautiful song.

Bravo artists!
